Today, I happened to attend the RENERGY 2013, Renewable Energy Expo held at Chennai Trade Center, Nandambakkam, Chennai. It was good to meet vendors and know about various products in the renewable energy sector under a single roof, at the exhibition. The RENERGY 2013 Expo is on from 9th May to 12th May, 2013. So, if you missed going today, you can go there tomorrow or the day after. The Chennai Trade Center is near Guindy (on the Guindy-Porur route). People can take a bus to Guindy (from anywhere in Chennai). From Guindy, Chennai Trade Center is quite near and can be reached by bus/auto. There is no entry ticket for the exhibition and vehicle parking is also free.
I did wonder why the organizers chose the month of May to conduct this exhibition, that too in Chennai!! But then, I realized that May is the month when we receive the maximum sunshine in India and hence perhaps it could be a symbolic gesture?? :) Anyway, since the Chennai Trade Center complex is fully air-conditioned, it was somewhat cool inside.
I met so many vendors, right from solar panel manufacturers, LED light manufacturers, wind turbine manufacturers, solar turn-key project developers, solar heater suppliers, solar lantern suppliers, mobile power station suppliers, inverter/UPS suppliers, bio-mass to energy equipment suppliers, solar pump suppliers, solar tracker suppliers, battery suppliers, consultants, magazine vendors, Govt. staff, certification/accreditation companies, etc. I was surprised to see Greenpeace, the organization that creates awareness on green issues around the world, have a stall at the expo!
During the Launch Pad, a forum to announce/introduce new products, three companies - Soltech, Smart Energy Trade Systems & TSN Ecotech International Pvt. Ltd, introduced their new products/brands. I will write in detail about these three launch pad events, shortly.
The food/juices were great :) It was good to see a lot of people come to the exhibition to learn about the various renewable energy products, and how it could benefit them. Exhibitors demonstrated/explained about products for both residential and commercial segments. What better way to beat the power-cuts, than switch to renewable energy? Especially when the central government and state government providing subsidies, thereby bringing the cost of the renewable energy products down, greatly.
Altogether, the RENERGY 2013 offers an excellent (once in a year) opportunity to meet many major renewable energy vendors/companies at a single place, in Chennai. Why not take advantage of this and visit the exhibition to learn more and have a clearer picture about all the options you have? Have a look at my earlier announcement about this exhibition, for some more info. Here's the link to their official website.
I'll leave you all with some pictures taken at the expo. Enjoy :)
