Among all the weird ideas that keep coming up on this blog, this should probably be the weirdest. This idea is out-of-the-box thinking at its best! O.K., it's not mine - I found it somewhere while browsing the net, but I was taken aback by the sheer audacity of the idea that I had to mention it here.
Most of our electricity is consumed in lighting up our homes/cities, right? Instead of wasting all that energy, why not make night vision glasses and distribute it to everyone, avoiding all forms of lighting in our homes/roads, etc.? Conceptually, this idea should be the energy saving idea of the millennium!
Just imagine how much energy can be saved if the above idea is put into practice. Also, all the light fittings, cabling, heat, etc. - everything is gone. We just make and supply night vision goggles (that don't consume electricity) or coat a night vision layer in existing goggles. That's it - most of the energy problems of the world will end!
Whoever came up with this idea, I bow to thee. I admit my inability to think unconventionally, beyond a certain level. You are a genius man - A Guru!! :)
For people who think this idea is impractical, read this article on night vision goggles by how stuff works and know that,
Interesting idea, don't you think? Trillions (of money) is saved instantly and the world becomes greener, almost overnight. No more concerns about carbon emissions, no more ice cap melting and no more global warming. People, we are sitting on a gold-mine idea - If I were the Govt., this is one idea that I'll implement immediately. Fortunately (for citizens), I am not :P

"With the proper night-vision equipment, you can see a person standing over 200 yards (183 m) away on a moonless, cloudy night!"When the military is using night vision goggles confidently in potentially life-threatening environment/situations, it should be easier for us to use them in homes and on roads? I am sure if such a decision is taken, night vision technology will be improved to make it as good or even better than seeing with lights ON in the night. Not sure if we can watch TV/use computers with these goggles, but both of them have built-in light source anyway.
