Soltech Equipments is a company based out of Chennai and they supply solar energy products. Yesterday, at the RENERGY 2013 exhibition (Chennai Trade Center, Nandambakkam), Soltech Equipments launched their Maples line of Solar Lamps.
Maples solar lamps are comprised of small LED lights in a neat enclosure that includes battery and controller. A small solar panel is also included in the set in order to power these LED lights from anywhere (as long as it can be directly exposed to the sunlight). According to the manufacturer, when you charge the LED lights for 6 hours using the provided solar panel, you get around 9 hours of lighting/backup time, once the battery is fully charged.
They currently have two configurations - 5W Solar Panel + LED lamp set & 10W Solar panel + LED lamp set. I guess you can use this as a torch or as a replacement to normal bulb in remote areas/places without lamps. The set comes in a small package and hence you can carry it around and use it for mobile lighting purposes.
According to their site, 3W SMD LED lamps are provided along with this set (the number of lights depends on the package you choose). It is also mentioned (on their site) that this set comes with a mini-USB output to charge mobile phones, etc. in remote locations.
