Gamesa announced the introduction of its G97-2.0 MW Wind Turbine for the Indian market, today, at the Wind Power India 2012 expo (Chennai Trade Center). It seems, the G97-2.0 MW turbine has already generated 52,00,000+ units of electricity within 6 months of operation at Pedappampatti wind farm, near Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu.
According to Gamesa, the G97-2.0 MW wind turbine comes with an advanced aerodynamic design and highly efficient aero profile to enable maximum production at low wind speeds. It also comes with dry type transformer placed incide nacelle that reduces voltage transmission losses. This turbine is intended for IIA/IIIA wind profiles.
Important specifications of G97-2.0 MW
- Power rating: 2 MW
- Voltage/Frequency: 690V AC/ 50-60 Hz
- Doubly-fed machine
- Rotor dia: 97 meters
- No. of blades/length: 3/47.5 meters
- Tower: Modular tower, 48m/90m height (120m under development)
- Protection class: IP 54
While answering questions, Gamesa also announced that they plan to start a new 1000 MW wind turbine plant at Chengalpet (near Chennai) shortly.
